THEROUTE

This is the proposed route of the planned A5036 Port of Liverpool Access Scheme, shared in 2017.

National Highways’ preferred solution is a dual two-lane carriageway which would follow the A5758 from Switch Island to Netherton before crossing the site of Buckley Hill football pitches, Lydiate Lane and Edge Lane.

It would then pass Liverpool County FA's new Sefton base and bi-sect Rimrose Valley Country Park, passing through Fulwood Wetlands, Chaffers Running Track, Brook Vale recreation ground and Brook Vale nature reserve.

It would then re-join the existing A5036 at the signalised roundabout, next to Seaforth and Litherland train station, with traffic from both routes heading down Princess Way, as it does today.

It is not currently known what will happen to the housing estates in the vicinity of the roundabout.

Despite being announced in 2017, no further information on the route has been forthcoming.

We will update this page as soon as more details are known.
